Sharpies Ahoy

My latest projects have been in the kitchen--I had this unfinished IKEA table forever, and finally couldn't stand to look at its unpainted nastiness for a moment longer. So I painted it white and added black outlines, kind of cartoon-ish. I also drew 2 place settings on there. You can't really see it in the picture, but it's actually very cute. I used this enormous sharpie pen to make the black lines. Kind of like a big yellow highlighter, only a sharpie. (Mmmmm, sharpies. I heart sharpies.) And the black pen came along with red and blue buddies; you best believe I'll be making up an excuse for using those guys on something.

(Oh, hey-- speaking of me not having my shit together for the holidays--I just noticed the Christmas teatowel is still in the kitchen. oopsies.)

I "autographed" the table on the bottom--actually so I could test the polyurethane finish on the sharpie ink. Didn't want it to smear everything. The finish is taking longer to do, basically because it's not fun and I keep procrastinating. Plus, it's hard to see if you're putting it on evenly, since it's clear...

I also finally hung up my uncle's drawings--yay! See photo #1...don't they go nice with the table? The whole room is black-and-white graphic, which is what I wanted. And to go with the cartoon-y theme: Today I used my new knives. Aren't they cute, in a creepy way?

Actually I'm not enjoying the knives so much today, because I saw Pan's Labyrinth last night. It was well done, but very depressing--one of those movies that make you wish an asteroid would just wipe out all humanity, since we are clearly gross and horrible and ruin everything we touch. Plus, there were some really squicky scenes that...well, let's just say the voodoo knife guy reminds me of this one nasty, nasty part.

Ewww.

Okay, I need to go think about something else right now.

I didn't even know this was out there. You suck at publicity.

I am going to read all of your posts and leave all sorts of nasty remarks....

mwah, ah, ah!
